So I live in Venice Beach now, I work in Hollywood, and I drink way too much coffee. I know what you're thinking, sooooo LA. But in the last couple months I've finally gotten a firm grasp on what direction my career and life are going as of now. First, I started working for a guy named Jeff Lipsky, who is on the of the premiere celebrity photographers in LA. Two things I really like about Jeff are that he's 42 yrs. old and dresses and acts like a 21 year old (jeans, hoodie, vans) and that he shoots all film still, not digital. I thought this was nearly impossible to be a competitive Advertising photographer and not shoot digital, but he's proved me wrong. Next on the agenda is my new purchase, an RZ 6x7 medium format film camera that has made me fall in love with shooting photos again. It's a beast of a camera, but the quality is absolutely ridiculous, SIIIIIICK!!!!!! For those of you who know me, I tend to sell 1/2 of my equipment every 6 months and buy different stuff, partly because I like trying new ways of shooting and partly because I'm constantly looking for ways to streamline my equipment (i.e. "more bang for the buck")...As a matter of fact, I'm going to go shoot some photos right now...
